PRESS RELEASE O3SIS Announces Over-the-Air Backup and Restore Solution at 3GSM World Congress Device-independent solution provides unprecedented value for mobile network operators and subscribers Barcelona, Spain - February 13, 2006 - O3SIS AG, a leading provider of personal mobile applications and Over-the-Air data synchronization (DS) technology to first tier mobile network operators, will unveil its latest personal mobility solution-Backup and Restore-during the 3GSM World Congress. Backup & Restore automatically safeguards a mobile user's address book, e-mail, calendar, and other Personal Information Management (PIM) data in the event a phone should be lost, stolen, or damaged. With the growing popularity of personal mobility, increasing amounts of critical data and valuable contact information are stored on the mobile phone. O3SIS' Backup and Restore enables mobile network operators to back up subscribers' data over the air, sparing customers the trouble of manually backing up data to their desktops. In the event of phone loss or theft, the operator can immediately lock the device, wipe all data for protection, and restore all the data to a new phone within minutes. "Having to track down your lost contact information, not to mention having to retype it, can be a daunting task for anyone," said Dirk Dörre, CEO and CTO at O3SIS. "After losing a phone, it can take subscribers more than 3 months to return to their normal phone usage. Our solution eliminates this downtime, giving users the convenience of automated, real-time data restoration while protecting the operator from lost revenue." When surveyed by Infosecurity Europe and Computer Weekly, over forty percent of respondents had experienced a misplaced or stolen mobile phone. A study by the Zelos Group found that fifteen percent of mobile subscribers expressed a strong interest in mobile data backup. By adding Backup & Restore to their current service offerings, mobile network operators can increase monthly ARPU, as well as improve customer retention rates. The O3SIS Backup & Restore solution is built on the latest OMA (Open Mobile Alliance) DS1.2 standard. It's compatible with any device supporting an OMA DS client, giving operators a solution with unprecedented flexibility and scalability. The application simplifies interoperability by automatically detecting the device type connected. By providing full backward compatibility for OMA DS clients starting from 1.0, O3SIS has already certified over a hundred handsets that work with its Over-the-Air data synchronization platform. Backup & Restore is the latest component of O3SIS' Unified Mobile Applications (UMA) platform, which also offers Over-the-Air data synchronization, a full-featured address book, push mail, and mobile PIM functionality. With an open, standards-based architecture, O3SIS applications integrate seamlessly into the operator's network, accelerating time to market. Implementation time averages just 3 to 4 months from start to commercial launch. Furthermore, as a single platform, UMA significantly reduces system complexity and maintenance costs. O3SIS Backup & Restore is available today and has already been selected by Hewlett Packard, as part of their mobile device management solutions framework, and by mFormation, a global leader for device management. The solution is on display at 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona February 13-16 at both Hewlett Packard (Booth B02b) and mFormation (Booth D01).
